Danish Days 2026 Is Coming to Solvang — Here’s Why You Should Stay With Us

Every September, Solvang trades its everyday charm for something even more festive: Danish Days. This year marks the 89th return of California’s largest Danish celebration, running Friday, September 18 through Sunday, September 20, 2026 — and the King Frederik Inn sits right in the middle of it all, in the heart of Little Denmark.

Admission is free all weekend. Expect parades winding through downtown, folk dancers twirling in traditional dress right on Copenhagen Drive, and the Solvang Village Band riding through town on a horse-drawn wagon.

Æbleskiver griddles come out in force too — the round Danish pancakes are cooked fresh and served warm at breakfasts throughout the weekend, a tradition guests line up for year after year. Families will find plenty to do beyond the parades: Hans Christian Andersen storytelling sessions, LEGO activities for kids, and Danish musicians performing throughout town.

Because Danish Days draws visitors from across the state, rooms in Solvang fill up fast. Staying at the King Frederik Inn puts you within walking distance of the parade route, the folk dancing, and Olsen’s famous bakery — plus you’ll start each festival morning with our complimentary pastries before heading out to the æbleskiver breakfast. Book early: September weekends in Solvang go quickly, and Danish Days weekend is the first to sell out.
